HDC provides documentation about the misleading picture of Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen at HLH. The picture text wrongly states that he was the Medical Director (at HLH) for the whole period 1961 until 2005.

Why has this been done?

It is tempting to relate the misleading “message” to the attempt of establishing “Haydom Diaconical Foundation” to replace ELCT Diocese of Mbulu as owner of the Haydom Lutheran Hospital.

HDC = Haydom Development Company Ltd.

HLH = Haydom Lutheran Hospital

FoH = (The Foundation) Friends of Haydom

T   Issues in the conflict HDC vs. HLH/FoH:

The unilateral physical take-over of Mulbadaw Farm and Central Maintenance and Service Centre by order from the  Foundation Friends of Haydom in Norway; without producing any court injunction or any legal document authorizing such a take-over.

The conduct of the chairman of the Board of Directors of Haydom Development Company Ltd; his lack of loyalty to lawful decisions made by the Board in 2006 and his unauthorized and secret dealings with Joseph Tadayo leading up to the unilateral physical take-over mentioned above.

The deceit by FoH in fulfilling their own board decision of October 2005 in financing HDC Ltd

The lack of registration of the entity running Mulbadaw Farm and Central Maintenance and Service Centre after 12th August 2006; how can a foreign foundation own and run businesses in Tanzania without being registered in Tanzania?

The suspicion of corruption aimed at avoiding the case to be considered by the court.

Misleading picture

At Haydom Lutheran Hospital (HLH) in a prominent position there is the following large picture of Ole Halgrim E. Olsen:

At the bottom edge of the picture the following is written:

Dr. Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen

Medical Director 1961 - 2005

The normal interpretation of this text is that Dr. Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen was the Medical Director of HLH the whole period from 1961 until 2005. However this isn't true. According to information obtained by HDC, the following Doctors have served as Medical Director at HLH from the foundation in 1955 until now:

1955 Dr Olaf Olsen
1955 Dr Sven Hinderaker
1956 Dr Leif Langlo
1961 Dr Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen
1967 Dr Sven Hinderaker
1969 Dr Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen
1973 Dr Olav Espegren
1975 Dr Magnus Tausjø
1976 Dr Sven Hinderaker
1977 Dr Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen
1981 Dr Reidulf Lillebø

1982 Dr Martti Laukkanen
1983 Dr Arne Bach
1984 Dr Maurits Didal.

1985 Dr Reidulf Lillebø
1989 Dr Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen

2005 Dr Øystein Evjen Olsen

2010 Dr Olav Espegren

Why this misleading information?

If anyone has other information about the Directors, we would appreciate to be notified: post@haydom-dc.com

Comments by Halvdan Jakobsen, managing director of HDC:

A pattern

The Norwegian daily “Stavanger Aftenblad” wrote on 24th July 2010 that Dr Olav Olsen was in charge of HLH from its start until his son Dr Ole Halgrim Evjen Olsen took over in 1961. When he passed away in 2005, 77 years old, his son Øystein Evjen Olsen took over as director.

Stavanger Aftenblad does not mention that Dr Sven Hinderaker and Dr Langlo served as directors during 5 years between 1956 and 1961. Between 1961 and 2005 seven other doctors than Dr Olsen served as directors.

In an invitation to a course in “U-landsmedisin” (medical science in developing countries) at Haydom for Norwegian medical doctors, “Vest- og Aust-Agder legeforening” (association of medical doctors) wrote on 29th June 2010 that the hospital (HLH) “was established by Dr Evjen Olsen senior from Mandal and has been managed by his son and now his grandson”

Is it soon time for Tanzanians to take charge?

The message seems to be that HLH is “Dr Olsen’s hospital”.  There is a similar message in some of the e-mails sent to a network of Friends of Haydom (FoH) in Norway, suggesting that the poor and pregnant women at Haydom shall suffer without the presence of the Evjen Olsen family at Haydom(paid by FoH).  Friends of Haydom are convinced that Øystein Evjen Olsen shall soon be back at Haydom, as expressed by Rev. J. Eriksen at the big Haydom meeting at Kvarstein, Norway, on Sunday 8th August.

It is tempting to relate the above “message” to the attempt of establishing “Haydom Diaconical Foundation” to replace ELCT Diocese of Mbulu as owner of the Haydom Lutheran Hospital.  If established with the proposed constitution, it would give the Friends of Haydom in Norway and the Evjen Olsen family full control of the Haydom hospital, see HDC documentation here. The proposed constitution and transfer of ownership has, so far, unanimously been rejected by ELCT Diocese of Mbulu.
