HDC's lawyer, Cecil
Maruma, died in a car accident
It is with deep sorrow that we received news that Cecil Maruma, the lawyer employed by Haydom Development Company Ltd, got killed in a car accident on his way home on Monday evening 29th June 2009 at about 7 p.m. Our sincere condolences go to his family and close professional associates.
Mr. Maruma diligently and fearlessly fought the case HDC Ltd filed after being chased away from Mulbadaw Farm and CMSC in August 2006. The ones responsible for taking the law into their own hands in 2006 have so far succeeded in keeping the case out of court. We were expecting a court ruling on 25th June about whether or not to reinstate the case as to let Tanzanian law rule. We did not get it and with the untimely death of our lawyer we might need some time to consider how to proceed.
